Iceland completely lived up to the hype — from unreal food to unforgettable views. Here’s everything we packed into our trip and what we definitely recommend doing while you’re there 👇
🍲 Icelandic Street Food — the Viral Bread Bowl
First stop had to be the famous Icelandic Street Food for their viral soup-in-a-bread-bowl. Honestly, it’s worth every bit of the hype — the soup is rich, hearty, and the bread is unreal. Perfect way to warm up after exploring the city.
💦 The Blue Lagoon Experience
No trip to Iceland is complete without a soak in the Blue Lagoon. It’s as dreamy as it looks — that warm, milky-blue water surrounded by volcanic rock is just surreal. Tip: go early morning or sunset for fewer crowds and the best photos.
🍕 Hidden Gem Pizza Spot
We found the best local pizza takeaway just a 1-minute walk from where we stayed at the Black Pearl Apartments. No exaggeration — it was some of the best pizza we’ve had in ages (and the perfect comfort food after a freezing evening outside!).

🌌 Northern Lights Tour
We booked a Northern Lights tour for one of our nights and actually got lucky enough to see them dancing across the sky. Photos don’t even come close — it’s pure magic. 100% recommend booking one, as they’ll take you to the best viewing spots away from city lights.
🛴 Explore by Scooter
Forget taxis — hiring scooters around Reykjavik is such a fun and easy way to get around. Just download the app, unlock, and go. Perfect for zipping between cafés, the harbour, and local shops while taking in the views.
💡 Quick Tips
-
Base yourself near the Black Pearl — amazing location and everything is within walking distance.
-
Bring warm waterproof layers — Icelandic weather changes by the minute.
-
Pre-book the Blue Lagoon and Northern Lights tour — both sell out fast!
- Make sure to pack a waterproof phone case for the Blue Lagoon experience - This is a must as they are so expensive to purchase there. Get yours on Amazon or TikTok shop before you go.
